My band is thinking of adding this to our setlist. Two Les Pauls into Marshalls. High and low harmonies at beginning intro. One guitar does talk box solo then other does a short solo after then back to chord changes and end it. Thoughts? Think this would be a good one or too long for a bar gig?

I think people will like it :yesway:

Do you mind posting your set list to see if it fits in?

This song is one of my top 10 fave's.

The version off the PFCA album was the one that made me a guitar player. If I'm not mistaken, the vid you posted is the exact version (though I'm still listening it through). If your band can pull it off, and it really isn't a hard song to pull off as long as you can get the vibe down (you don't have to have 10 minutes of talk box, and I wouldn't recommend more than 30-60 seconds of it if you do it), peeps will LOVE it because they can drink and sing to it.

Bob Mayo on the keyboards... BOB MAYO!

Put it into perspective - this was done way back in the days when Eight Is Enough was primetime TV. And it still holds up as a major definitive rock n roll guitar song.

He sure was bouncy, wasn't he?

I have only ever heard the live version of that song on the radio, thousands of times. Great tune, trim it down and have a go at it!

It's a great song, but. In my early 20's life, every bar band around the area played it. It's like Mack the Knife and Karaoke.

We always said it sounds like he said “hold the Mayo on the keyboards....hold the Mayo”...lol
