I am john lee hummer, and i wish to make an offical retraction of several comments made on these forums directly, or indirectly alluding to the ( lack therof ) instrinsic value of what I termed "speed playing".

I now see the posts were unfair.

Until just a few moments ago, I had never seen a film clip called
" death to all but metal" by a band called 'steel panther'.

In this exciting film clip where basically these individuals themselves devalue a whole bunch of performers, we see an as yet hitherto unidentified/unnamed man possibly wearing a red wig and wearing torn garments playing passages at these points in the song.

    0:43-0:50
    1:45- 1:53
    2:41-2:50

The staccato nature of a particular passage performed at 1:50 during the second event specified above , struck me not for the speed at which it was played, but at the musicality within the played passage, the selection of notes were impeccably chosen and after a brief consultation with myself, I realized that the outrageous manic, satanic flurry of notes performed by the man with the red wig was not only appropriate, but that it was superior to anything i could either compose or perform myself and very, very wholesome when placed in context of the music it was played within. After the initial shock of listening to the flurry, for the first time, I realized with a heavy heart, that I had done wrong in this place.
Not only do I apologize for my comments, which were hurtful to some, I now find myself wondering to myself ...' self..can I learn to play like that?'

    thankyou, john lee hummer

After watching that I feel the sudden urge to start drinking, do dirty things to my wife and then break something.

This type of music is a bad influence on society and I want more.

    irony here

    1) These people are definitely bringing guitar rock back bigger than anyone ive seen recently, ( - theres girls in these sometimes enormous audiences not just guys who like guitar ) all done under the banner of satire..its like rock had to hide to be welcomed back, but back it is.

    2) See how they couldn't give a toss about being politically correct, this is marketing genius..you gotta be different to stand out..the success of the trump phenomenon is related to this.

    Amazingly

    - How do they get away with it legally?
If any of the people they mention can show they've lost earnings or damage to their reputation, these guys have to $$$ pay..magnificent ball bags there...a scrotal masterpiece.

this song is a mishmash of made for success influences

    - see they use the classroom scene and visual concept from ' hot for teacher'
    - the verse rhythm guitar sounds a lot like metallica, but with proper tone, which is what metallica always lacked.
    - the riff played at 1:10 sounds to me like malmsteen riffage.
    - of course, the party atmosphere of motley crue
    - hehe theyve even nicked ' sweet child o mine'
its so clever, you see they can rip all this stuff and groove people out with it, and not be accused of stealing as theyre obviously taking the piss out of these bands..in reality they're taking all the $$$$

if we could just get him to play a strat and uh..put that one back in its case

he plays another badass flurry at precisely 2:48 ( and pulls the perfect face) yeah it's all funny and everyfen, but it sounds like hes inverting the melody played in the previous flurry, this is musical BADASS playing and composition.
