This landed today, a matching set from new, which I bought from the original owner (via a shop).

Head is a PA (as you would expect with columns), early RS Deluxe OT, tall mains, untouched board, factory installed 8/15 ohm slide switch on the back (original owner requested it like that from Marshall). It's silly clean other than the handle is worn out. The cabs are also untouched, housing 652's with Hanwell factory stickers.

I guess they're still out there. I've had really good luck this last month.

ouhaouh magnifique! congratulations, I would be very happy to own the same...
Head with these knobs type and block logo, columns with rare grill cloth and block logo, Speakers with this sticker type...all in beautiful condition...I'm a bit jealous I would say ;)
These set are so rare and conditions so good, should be very rare to find that today...

Damn, that's a really clean set. The custom factory installed 8/15 ohm slide switch sparks my interest...Perhaps you could post a picture of it? Did the original owner reveal when he purchesed the set?

So far it looks just as clean on the inside as it does on the outside. That's has to be the earliest test/inspection sheet I've ever seen on an amp. Any idea on a possible manufacture date for this set? Perhaps somewhere within the first 15 weeks of 1965?

Assembler EB (Eileen Boncey) started at Marshall pretty early on seeing that her initials are on the test/inspection sheet.

I'd be interested to see how the secondary taps of the OT are connected to that spdt switch and the speaker sockets.

The hookup chart for an RS De Luxe OT doesnt seem to support toggling from 8 to 16 ohms with just one spdt switch, but if there's a way to do it I'd be keen to know.

Yes, me too, I remember Brian Wallace drew up a diagram with a 2-layer multi-pin switch that nearly got there.
First time that I have ever seen that method of front panel/chassis support. The screws look original. I have a couple of JTM45 cabs with front panel breces that I think are original from around this era (well mine are both '65 cabs but both slightly different). Wonder if they were experimenting on ways to stop the folded aluminium chassis 'lozenging' when dropped - hence x3 different methods during same year.

This is a great rig. Once in a lifetime score. How many original owner old men are still left? Particularly the type of old men that kept them at home and never messed with them one bit. Not many I would guess.

The uxbridge road labels are very rare. I've seen a few old PA cabs, photos mainly, but most have not had those labels on the speakers.

Makes you wander what else is out there in other shops around the UK.
