I bought a brand new DSL 100 in Feb 2019. Before I had to go back to work I bought 2 preamp tubes and tried them with no positive results. When I strum the strings on my guitar it just makes some scratchy noise. I just measured the plate voltage on all 4 power tubes, 437 volts, grid voltage is -35 volts and filament voltage is good. Could it be one or more power tubes is bad?

Did you try the preamp tubes one at a time through the all slots ?
Dbl check with both of your spares, I say this because one of my mullard preamp tubes was DOA..
Cheers to getting your amp back up and running.

I don't have a way to check the spares except to put them in the amp and yes I did change them one at a time.

Ok I am no tech but that’s the way I have found my problems, have you checked the obvious ? Cable, instrument inputs , last night one of my amps was not making a sound at all and it was a bad speaker cable !
    Cheers

All tube amp owners should have spares. IMO.

Check all your fuses first to see if thats the problem.

Pull the inner two power tubes and see if it works, if not put them back and pull the outer two power tubes and see if it works. Also dont play it this way, just do a quick strum of the guitar to see if you get sound. If you find it works in one of these ways you can start juggling tubes to figure which is the bad tube and order one replacement power tube instead of a whole set.

After that Im out of ideas. Do these have a 5 year warranty?

In my experience... If the amp is making noise of any sort and not completely dead sound wise.... Is usually tubes. Ymmv.

    Yes! :agreed:

If you are the original owner, purchased from an authorized Marshall dealer and register it within 90 days of purchase. :erk:

Thank you very much. I knew that 2 tubes are in parallel but didn't think of doing that. Yes it has some kinda of warranty but it's 50 bucks to ship it one way.

Tubes are like girls n cars. Everyone likes something different. JJs are marshall standards for a reason. But there are many other good brands. Someone with your amp will chime in for sure. I like JJ, tads, and believe it or not EHX. Any new tubes will be great.

If you like the way your amp sounds get the same tubes. If you can figure out which is the bad tube youll have 3 spares the same brand. :yesway:

I can get a matching set of JJ's off Amazon for 76 bucks, probably gonna do that. Thanks for the welcome. I'm about to retire but have to go back on one more boilermaker job to make sure I'll have enough money. To date I've built 10 guitar kits and 7 of them are really good. My passion in life was to play a guitar just like a ringin a bell. I'm in good shape and might have enough time left to make it happen. Like this website and gonna do my best to hang here more often.

Thanks, I'll make sure and do that. In my 20's and 30's I was an electronics technican. Worked on Motorola 2-way radios, and worked on 1000's of tube radio's.
