I am thinking of trading my 1987 JCM 800 2210 plus $400 cnd for a runt 50 head. The runt is almost brand new but I know I will miss my 2210.
I know this is a Marshall forum but is this a stupid trade on my part? Be nice to me haha. I was going to outright buy it but I cant afford another amp...

I'll start my reply by stating I love Friedman 's products.

But being in production models they are easy to source, your old Marshall - not so much.

Id hang on to the Marshall, save for the Runt.

Just my opinions, not worth much, yours is the one that counts!

    Steve

It makes sense Steve. I cant find any 2210s for sale. Those runts sure are awesome amps but will be available for a long time I think. Just had a chat with a buddy who asked "when do you want me to slap you upside the head?" Well I think I m keeping my 2210 and getting an attenuator.

    Well......

Consider this your virtual head slap. SLAP.

Supply and demand bro, high demand and you already have the supply.

I think, my opinion only , youll be happy in the long run.

If you run a Friedman BE OD Deluxe in front of that Marshall youll almost have that Friedman tone. Almost.

Not just no but hell no!! Dude i have an original 83 jcm800 2203. I recently picked up a Friedman Runt 20 (Yea i know its not a 50). I'll be real honest here......The Friedman can't even touch my 2203. No way in hell! Put a boost in front of your 2210 and you'll forget how to spell Friedman. Don't even waste your time dude! Play that 2210 and make the panties drop!

Keep it! I have an 87' 2205 and love it. They have a tone all they're own. I tried a runt 50 in a gc but they wouldnt let me crank it. It was meh, but in all fairness I did'nt have much time with it. You'll alway's be able to find a runt used.

Friedman was the Soldano of the noughties.
The question is, are you a hipster or a rocker?

Personally I would give the Runt a shot , but then again I'm in the UK where any 70's / 80's Marshalls are much cheaper and easier to find than Friedmans .

Seriously, just grab one of the Friedman pedals to scratch that itch for the time being. And maybe save up for one of his amps after that if you like it.

    Trading/Selling a 2210 for a Friedman is a side step imo.

I thought alot about the trade and came to the conclusion, with taking into consideration the comments made, that these older marshall amps are getting harder to find, around here anyways. I m going to hold onto it and purchase a friedman jj jr in a year from now used. I have been playing my 2210 again and have realized it is a great amp that I would miss for sure. Thanks for your suggestions everyone

Love the runts. But dont trade. You can find a Runt anytime.
