Just go this amp. It's been converted to an 18 watt circuit (1958 with 2x10's). Period correct components.

Evidently this is common conversion for this amp. I've owned two 1974x amps and this amps and to my ears this amp sounds better than both.

    Anyone familiar with this amp?

Photos in next post in the thread.

Sorry nobody responded. It's a very cool amp, but perhaps so uncommon no one knows much. I know of an amp for sale that looks exactly like yours but with checkerboard cloth. It doesn't work at all, fried trannys per store yet they are asking more than what a mint working one would sell for.

I want to hear yours. Can you link a video?

Thanks Trapland, I have not checked my post in sometime with no responses. I just picked up the amp after having it checked out by my tech and I also had him add an external speaker jack.

My tech stated that the 18watt mod looked professionally done (factoryas) and that made me feel pretty good about the amp.

It is a cool little amp, to bad the Marshall 1930 Popular is not very popular. Anyway it is very cool owning a rare old handwired Marshall combo, even if people are not familiar this model.

The amp sounds every bit as good if not better than the two 1974x's that I have owned. I'll have to try and get some cell phone recordings of the amp the next chance I get to play it at volume.

I've been spending a lot more time with my new 1962hw and I need to experiment with this amp some more with and without pedals and get a video made.

    Thanks for your response.

Very cool amp. I think I asked you about it in another thread. But yes, please post some sound clips. I'd for sure be interested. I love the small bottle vibe in the lower wattage NMV amps. Straight in with humbuckers would be my own preference if you can demo it.

Using it at low volume yesterday with a Dirty Shirley pedal with the gain backed off and with my '73 SG and it sounded great. Need to use it cranked and also with an external cab.

Remember this amp has been modified from a 10 watt to an 18 watt circuit.
