Amp repair in Southern California

Anybody out there know somebody good to take my TSL2000 for repair?

I have it on good authority that I need new tubes. I know I can pop the tube in myself, but what about biasing the amp? Is this difficult and can it be attempted by a novice?

Thanks,

Ed

Re: Amp repair in Southern California

Yeah I agree, Art is my kinda Marshall Tech. I brought my JCM2000 TSL122 to his garage for replacing my shorted out transformer and he charged me only $70 for labor since I have already a transformer purchased from some online store. While I was there he recommended me to replace my original tubes (about 10 years old since the amp was purchased). So I let him swapped out my original tubes with JJ tubes and he did not charge me for biasing.
I compared his tube pricing vs. some online tube store his is few dollars cheaper. Not to mention if you are buying the tubes online the stores you buy it from will have to charge you more for the shipping and handling. So Artís pricing is definitely cheaper than online stores. The reason why he could charge a lot less is because he doesnít have to pay a shop rent or other overheads. He has a lot of Marshall spare parts set up in his garage in Bellflower.
The bottom line for me I was very happy when my Marshall ampsí tone and punch has improved a lot after he replaced and biased my tubes for a lot less. This guy is friendly as well and definitely he knows his collection of Marshall ampsí. I asked Art to give me the permission to share his information. So if you are looking for Marshall amp repair or service, you definitely want to considering calling him. 562-644-1924.

I guess some of it may be determined by where you live. So. Cal is a big place.

In Hollywood, there is Andy at Revamp. I have taken a couple of amps to him. He takes the time to talk to you about what you need and has reasonable prices. He also does the amp repairs for SIR. He does good work.
