Re: Did Angus use any effects?

The Schaffer-Vega Diversity System (“SVDS”) was the first cordless guitar and microphone system to be adopted by major rock acts. The freedom of movement wireless provided paved the way for arena-sized bands to tour with large multi-level stages. Schaffer-Vegas were employed by major rock bands, including The Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, AC/DC, Pink Floyd, Kiss, The Grateful Dead, Peter Frampton, Aerosmith, Earth, Wind & Fire, Black Sabbath and Van Halen.

The Schaffer-Vega wireless guitar system was introduced by The Ken Schaffer Group, Inc. of New York in June 1976. A handheld microphone version was introduced in 1977. What made the Schaffer-Vega system unique was its approach to solving each of the problems common to previous wireless systems and which limited their use in professional staging and production.

Correct.
The SVDS - in terms of audible, resulting effects - consists of a compressor and a clean boost.
Both make a strong effect and influence on the sound.

I have several units now - my pride really, I became friends with the inventor himself, Mr. Ken Schaffer - and these are quite effective.

Some examples in these videos of me with one original unit:

Should you be interested in this,
we are building a replica - an exact replica audio wise but NOT wireless; just a stompbox - will be ready in a few months. We reverse engineered the whole system and drawn the schematics.

A Prototype - the first one - has been made

The Schaffer-Vega Diversity Replica (Updated)

Re: Did Angus use any effects?

Yep, for real. He means to say that Angus was never a technology/gear kind of guy.
He barely knew the model name, same goes for the rest of his gear. Un-aware.
And un-interested. He only cared about the playing.

Never ever met him.
I am being told he knows about me. They (AC/DC) know me.
Mr. Rick St. Pierre (AC/DC amp tech) knows me well
Mr. Tony Platt (AC/DC sound engineer for a while) knows me to some extent, we also met recently in London.
I never tried to get in touch with them. Never ever but recently, and recent contact has been with record label only, trying to pay for the copyrights of the video I am making recently.

Would love to strike a deal with them, where I PAY for the videos I make.

Oh thank you

Yes, I am gigging with professionals (finally). Great people, simple people that do this for life.

Drums and bass guys are from a well known Italian band. "Older" folks, in their 50s. Love 'em

(I'm 44 )

Wow, I hope to look that well when I'm 44. You look like your in your 20's man. Anyway, your tone is amazing and your playing is sick. I'm glad you're in a band gigging!

Wait! Do you consider a "metal slide" an effect? I thought that's what he was using for the opening of "Stormy May Day." Then again, maybe that was Malcolm's part.

Dude, the same thing kind of happened to me at a Rush concert. We were right up front, and at some point I remember starting to feel things spin, and then I heard like pretty much just silence ... next thing I knew, I was literally draped over the seat in front of me passed out. It was only for a few seconds, but it was so loud that it literally knocked me the **** out ... like you, I was young and new-ish to beer & it handled me.

Great concert ... only missed a minute, tops!

Re: Did Angus use any effects?

Been into AC/DC since I was 10 years old, like many here.
I liked and like other bands, many others, and also other musical genres.

But AC/DC are and have been my religion all along.

i heard a story from some older people in the neighbor hood back in the day, someone was able to swipe angus' jacket at some point, and this girl was with him at the show. they found a huge bag of coke in the pocket haha....surprised? nah...not at all.

just a story, i never actually saw the jacket...or the drugs. he was my hero too, for years.

Re: Did Angus use any effects?

Oh yeah, easily. Those were times where all the drugs started, and I fon't see the reason for which they shouldn't be partying heavily back in the day.
What I opposed frequently was the idea that Ang would be taking drugs to play as he did, which has often been commin place.
You don't play well under drugs effect.

But the partying style... Heck yeah
