Besides the reliability issues I had with my 401, there's nothing wrong with the 401. Once I got the 40C the 401 was gathering dust.

I must have had a bad 1. My my last mod was to replace it with a DSL40C. I scored a 40C for $450 shipped & sold the 401 for $325.

My 401 got so hot that the front panel could burn your fingers. A fan is a must in these amps IMO.

Pick up a used 40C, used HOF reverb, used MXR 10 band & a JOYO Vintage OD and your set!
If the fan is 5v, I would definitely use a wall wart. How much air does it move?
