Need help purchasing an Amp please
Hello everyone, i am new here and I need some help; I will appreciate your any suggestions.
I am a learning musician at the moment. I play guitar, keyboard, Indian wooden flute, harmnoica, dilruba ( similar to sitar, but string and bow based) and some Indian drums. All these instrument, i can play many song or some rytham and never got in to the depth of it; I don't read music notes either.. But, not I have decided I will get the depth in the guitar (acoustic and electric) and some keyboard. I want to purchase an amp that can handle keyboard and guitar. I will be mostly playing new age ( very basic and simple ) music, or some 70ies and 80ies type of music, nothing hard, metal, rock, punk, or trans. Just want to gig with friends and want to play simple music. I have a budget of $300-$700 and I want the amp combo. The size can be (2ft x 2ft x 9-10" wide/depth) so I can fit in my apartment. Is there an amp that can manage my needs or I need two amps, one for guitar and one for key board? I really don't have the space to put 2 amps. If this is an issue, I will get the electric guitar amp and use that for keyboard too, I will take whatever sound comes I guess. I found this amp and thought of it... any idea on this one Fender Frontman 212R 100W 2x12 Guitar Combo Amp (Black)$299.00 Buy Fender Frontman 212R 100W 2x12 Guitar Combo Amp | Solid State Combo Amps | Musician's Friend I also found this Roland Amp that many say that would be my best bet if I want to play the Guitar or the Keyboard Roland KC350 Keyboard Amplifier $449.00 http://www.zzounds.com/item--ROLKC350 Any help will do. ~warm regards. ~Urjo. |

Re: Need help purchasing an Amp please
Well there is probably no amp that is designed to work perfectly for both keyboard and guitar. You can probably expect to be making a compromise one way or the other. It helps that you want a good clean sound.
Fender and Roland are pretty good places to start. Can you bring your guitar and keyboard to a local music store and hear how they sound with these amps? That's really the only way to be sure. You'll find people on any forum ready to bash a namebrand or swear by it. |

Re: Need help purchasing an Amp please
One musician that I was chatting online told me that I can use the Roland KC350, and add a Zoom G1N Multi Effect Pedal before the Roland Amp when playing guitar. That way, I can get the guitar effects while playing the guitar, yet I can use the amp without the pedal while playing keyboard.
