Boogie Stiletto amps
I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the Boogie Stiletto series?
SInce it looks like these may have been made to be Boogies answer to Marshall, I was wondering how they actually stack up against an EL34 based Marshall.

Re: Boogie Stiletto amps
I tried the Stiletto deuce each time it came out. The original issue was pretty weak, sorry cleans and wimpy distortion, not much to write home about. i guess a lot of people complained because Mesa made the Stage II version shortly after. The stage II is an excellent amp. Well built, good features. Ot has nice cleans that start to break up with more gain and a really sweet distortion channel. The fluid drive mode gives it that liquid lead tone. I almost bought it right then. I spent a good hour and a half playing through it and was ready to go back for another round but a friend offered me his Splawn Quickrod the same day. As for comparing it to a Marshall....
Its Mesas "take" on an EL34 based amp, just like the Quickrod is Splawns "take" on a hotrodded 800. They both sound really good (especially if you like EL34s) and I'd take either over any 6L6 based amp, but their not exactly a Marshall. If that makes any sense?

Re: Boogie Stiletto amps
You pretty much nailed it dead on, however I will say alot of marshall guys I know actually prefer version 1 of the stiletto. It was more designed after an older marshall in mind, with the right tube change those amps screamed 70 and 80's marshall exspecially on the crunch channel.
As to stage 2, I can get it damn close to my JCM800 2203, but it will never be the marshall. However if you want a high gain British voiced EL34 amp than it is a great amp to have. Quote:
