2203 Kit

I just ordered a 2203 kit from Weber. This will be my first build, it should be interesting. I plan on running it on 2 power tubes to make it 50 watts, or with a half power switch so it can be switched between 50 and 100, still trying to decide.

Sounds cool. Give it the 50/100 switch option.

I'm interested in seeing a "pictorial" of the stages...
Seriously - It would be cool to document the work flow and see it happen

If this is your first amp build, this youtube video is a good begginers guide for amp builds:

I was planning on taking pictures along the way. Check out the Tube Depot videos, he steps through the process with ease. TubeDepotTV - Learn | Build | Play

Yeah these Tube Depot videos are what helped me decide to go ahead with this project. He makes it look so easy and they have the step by step instructions on his site. No reason I cant follow his tips and tricks to build a Weber kit.

Re: 2203 Kit

I wonder if I put a half power switch in it and pull 2 power tubes. Would it be playing at 25 watts? I realize I'm talking out my ass.

I suspect I'll probably use the low input with pedals to keep the power under control.

Re: 2203 Kit

Do yourself a hugh favor before your kit gets to you and build yourself an amp building cradle, they are a must! There are several premade ones if you don't have the carpenter tools at all, but it doesn't take much in tools to build one. They hold your chassis still, and at the exact angle you need them at for the task at hand. Heres' a set of plans for an example from a Vendor that I use in NE England:

Just a word of caution......Tube amps contain high voltages that could be lethal......please ensure you are aware of it......and work with extreme care when building the kit!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: 2203 Kit

The kit arrived today and I unpacked it to inspect everything, looks good. I'm scared and excited at the same time! I just reviewed all the tube depot videos a couple times too, very helpful. They have printed step-by-step instructions I'll download and review too. This is probably gonna be the slowest build in history. I'm gonna take it slow since its my first. Updates to follow as I make progress.
