EVH Limited Edition

I don't know what everyone else thinks of this, but, I kind of like it? I think I would have prefered the EVH lettering to be white instead of red though.

I feel so sorry for fanboys...it never ends. This is Communism in the guise of marketing.
It looks good though. I like the red badges.

Re: EVH Limited Edition

I'm not a Van Halen fanatic, I just like the looks of it. I played on a EVH head a few times when they first came out and thought it was a nice sounding amp. However, I thought it was a little pricey for it being made in Mexico? They were 2K when they first came out.

Sorry, I think it looks cheap. The graphic was cool when it was original but now it is being applied to guitars, pedals amps. I am surprised the grillcloth is not displaying the graphic. Just my $.02

Would go well with Raine's 'Black Widow' Les Paul.

Re: EVH Limited Edition

I'd like it if they just made the grille plain black. The red logo looks snazzy.

With that said, though. These amps stomp all over the old 5150/6505's in every aspect. Better clean channel, separate crunch channel, split EQs, and tighter, less fizzy gain.

These are getting really popular with the metal crowd. I really would love to own one, especially the 50W Mini.

Re: EVH Limited Edition

Id rather have a Peavy that was made right here in the USA... Charging the same as a Mesa for junk made in Mexico is an insult to me as a consumer and a guitarist.

Re: EVH Limited Edition

Call me crazy, but I'd honestly buy the EVH over the Peavey. I never jelled with the 5150/6505, but the 5153 is a VAST improvement, IMO. Worth the cash to me.

Too many knobs.... Why ? Was'nt Eddie was a plexi guy...Why did he want to complicate things with that design...The amp looks good...but I never tried one...Too many knobs for me...I would be too busy turning them instead of playing my guitar...

It is a three channel amp. It has independant controls for each one. They do sound nice but, they're expensive for being MIM. I've never really looked, but, I wonder how much a used one is?

He was a Plexi guy in the 70's and the 80's, up to 1988/1989 when he switched to Soldano, and then eventually Peavey in 1990.

And honestly, most of the knobs are just controls for each channel. Each channel has your standard B/M/T, gain, and volume control. The other 3 knobs are just a presence control for each channel. It may look more complicated, but in actuality, this thing is probably a LOT more easy to dial in compared to amps like the Dual Rectifier or the TSL. If you can dial a Plexi, you can dial an amp like this.

A big picture just to show what I'm talking about...

Re: EVH Limited Edition

I like it as a "collector" to have in an EVH collection, it'd be perfect. I think they did a great job on the head - probably wasn't easy for a large piece.

Since I love the "Marshall" sound I would only gig with those heads.

Too bad Marshall and EVH didn't get together before Peavey jumped in. I think that would have been a pefect match all the way around!!

When I first looked at mine I thought "that is a lot of knobs, where do I start"?

So I just set everything at 12 o'clock except the MV and bam! I was playing and not even messing with the tone controls, just a little messing with the gain and volume.

These amps sound good and IMO and experience the 50w sounds even better.
