Unexpected NAD

Went down to guitar center, I was in one of those moods were I felt like buying something, but I didn't know what. I figured a cheap pedal or something, but ended up getting this:

An "Excelsior".

Its part of Fender's new Pawn Shop series. Volume, tremelo, bright/dark switch. 3 inputs. Each input is a little different. Guitar is balanced, mic input is less gain, less bright. Accordion is very mid rangy with less bass then the guitar input.

Sounds great. 13 watts. Two 6v6s in the poweramp and two 12ax7s in the pre. 15" speaker. Pretty loud for what it is.

And how much did it cost out the door? Only 325 bucks. This thing is awesome. Its really raunchy tone at about 2 o clock on the volume. Anymore past that and its a little over the top.

First take, plenty of mistakes. I got through clean tones, then to dirty stuff. Recorded with an iphone.

KILLER-WATTS and dualampman like this.

Haha. My grandfather actually plays accordion. Since the 40s. I play a few standards gigs with him every year.

Nice dirty tones, thanks for taking the effort to put this up. Been curious about this since I read about it a few months ago...

I've never heard of it, but I really dig the look and it sounds pretty solid.

Re: Unexpected NAD

I plugged into one at GC just yesterday. What a fun little amp. Pre amp and power amp are totally apart from one another. There's Metal coax race the wires run thru to connect the two. Pre amp at the top, power amp at the bottom. Plus it has a 15 inch speaker. So cool. Good luck with that.

Great song.
Very cool and I thought I recognized it but wasn't 100% sure. I love the allman brothers and have seen them many many times. I am a Georgia boy after all and it's sacrilege not to like them. I think this is going to be the first song I learn to play on my new JTM1. I haven't been listening to enough allman bros lately. I see you are from California. Have you ever heard or seen Widespread Panic? They are also some Georgia boys. Check them out if you haven't already but I'm sure you have since you obviously have good taste in music for a kid your age. You look young and under 20 in your video.

I've honestly never heard on them, but I'll certainly check it out.

Yea, I just turned 18 the first of this month. Randomly downloaded Purple Haze one day 4 years ago, and 60s and 70s music has been an obsession ever since.

Widespread Panic started out as a Grateful Dead cover band for the most part in Athens, GA, home of REM and the B-52's and many others, back in the early eighties. They are now usually in the forbes top 5 grossing acts because all they do is tour like The Grateful Dead and Phish. They don't get radio play which is good for us true fans. I'm going to do you a huge favor by introducing you to one of the best live bands you will ever see and i highly suggest you catch a show as soon as they are close to your area. Start by looking up these songs as an introduction:

Space Wrangler
Walkin'(For Your Love)
C. Brown
The Last Straw
Porch Song
Bear Gone Fishing
Bar Stools and Dreamers
Driving Song
Henry Parsons
Hatfield
Dream Song
Chilly Water

Widespread Panic has a huge volume of music, not unlike the Dead or Phish, but i wanted to steer you to some songs that i love and i think you'll love as well considering your love of the Allman Bros. Please tell me what you think when you get a chance. I hope i'm about to turn you onto your new favorite band. Enjoy.
