I've checked everywhere on what tubes are OE for this head. I bought it used and it had JJ ECC83s preamp tubes and JJ 6l6 GC powertubes in it. I read somewhere that these arent the stock tubes so i was wondering if anyone knew what the stock tubes are because as your probably know there is no way to bias it so I want to put in the tubes it was ment to use. Hopefully i get a reply, thanks!

not sure but i'm not expert but i never saw a tube amp you can not bias
all tube amp can be bias or some have the auto bias and the tube you got in you amp are good tube not the best but pretty good tube

The EVH 5150 iii does not come with anything to bias it with. Theres nothing at all. Hence why I need the stock tubes so i dont have to start modding shit. It sucks haha

my amp the bias is inside the amp, is not all the amp they have the bias pot in the back of the amp. me all my tube amp are inside.

hmmm interesting.... this is the first forum i've seen where they said you can bias it, i've looked all over the amp and also online to try and find the location but to no avail.

Wait nevermind, I found out on another forum that the pot is under neath the chassis so i have to take it out. Guess ill try that later on haha Thanks!

OP- those sound like the stock tubes. Mine came stock with all JJs also. They used to ship with something else but switched to JJs.

Hi Jeff
The bias adjust is R18, 25k trim pot.
There are bias test points at TP36 across the R186 1ohm resistor. The amp schematic indicates the reading of 80mV at that test point with plate volts of 485.

Be aware that there are dangerous high voltages in the amplifier.
