Another Silverface ...bites the dust

This time a 50w Bassman Ten gets the tweed preamp treatment
I think I dig this one the most of all the bassmans I molested

Im not the best wire dresser ,but neither were the Fender assembly line ....

Freakin sweet man, I have two questions. 1-Can I do that to my Bassman 70 and have the pot you took out as a midrange control ? 2- What guitar are you playing ?

Re: Another Silverface ...bites the dust

Very cool conversion job------ i've got a Bassman Ten 70 watter UL sitting here--- bought inop from my friend---considering what circuit to build into it----- one could do much worse than that 5F6A conversion--- i've got plenty of non-UL iron to use, depending on what i eventually end up doing with it............................gldtp99

Sure you could do it to that amp ,if you know your way around what's goin on .
The pot I took out was the ch 1 Bass pot ....not needed . I use the ch 1 treble pot hole for the presence pot on those SF amps with the designated treb/mid/bass slots on the other side ...... (e.g. Bassman 100)

Guitar ...

@gldtp99
Hey, do you know who sells a straight up 8 ohm 50w output tranny these days ? I dont mean somethin like Mercury. I mean somethin to put in a beater amp that I took the 70w UL out of
BTW,the stock 50w bassman ten tranny sounds great ...keep an eye out

Doesn't MojoTone have Fender output trannies at a reasonable cost?
You may be able to put a Twin Reverb OT in...

Re: Another Silverface ...bites the dust

Here's a couple from Edcor:
EDCOR - CXPP50-8-5K
EDCOR - CXPP60-8-4.2K

And one from Magnetic Components:
Fender Output Transformer, Concert Style Amps, Super Reverb Style Amps, Bassman Style Amps, 8 Ohm Only

I'd probably go with the Mag Com OT-- i really like their upgrade 4/8/16 BF Bassman-type OT, nice sounding and not too expensive--- besides Fender replacements/builds I've used one of these in a Marshall-type AFD #36 Mod build with 6L6GC's---a guy came over to talk about a possible custom build, played this one and bought it on the spot--- he didn't care about the "no faceplate/Sharpie marked controls" or ragged old Marshall head cab w/bare plywood back cover--- he had to have that amp---it was a good sounder---maybe i'll do another one someday.......................gldtp99

Re: Another Silverface ...bites the dust

Excellent... I had a couple Bassman heads modded, Both of the sounded very good. I think Don Patterson (Dallas Ft, Worth TX) is still playing on one of them.

The mods were done by Carl Popeck, pretty decent tech. I think he has moved to Las Vegas, NV.

your amp sounds real good.
