Egnater's at it again!

Must say i LIKE this amp a LOT. it's got serious chunk and tone and easily gets all genres and decades of heavy rock/metal and the clean channel's spot on!

Re: Egnater's at it again!

I had an Egnater Rebel, kept it for a while but I just could not get with it. Sounded nice alone but in a band context, I always had a hard time cutting through.

Re: Egnater's at it again!

YouTube videos are tough to judge by.

I'm not familiar with this particular model... but I do know they're doing some cool stuff lately. I could not find sounds I was happy with on the Rebel, Renegade or Tourmaster amps; but the Tweaker 15 retubed through a 2x12 or 4x12 blew me away - and I've been very happy with mine.

I got a chance to try out the new Tweaker 40 head through a 4x12... I expect to take delivery on mine next Wednesday.

Happy GAS'ing!

EDIT: One thing I found to be consistently true with the Egnaters - they need a burn-in period to sound right. The floor models that had been well played were very different than the new one out of the box until it had cooked awhile.

This thing has been in talks for like a year or two. I've seen that demo a LOOONNNGGG time ago and completely forgot about it to be honest. I can't wait for it to actually hit though, it seems AMAZING.

MuFrd has ads up with expected arrival dates...
Egnater Vengeance 120W Tube Guitar Amp Head: Shop Guitars & Other Musical Instruments | Musician's Friend
Egnater Armageddon 120W Tube Guitar Amp Head: Shop Guitars & Other Musical Instruments | Musician's Friend
The Vengeance is supposed to be a more affordable version without the bells & whistles.

oh you're being nice Moose...i played the rebel and renegades and felt RAPED by how bad they sounded. like a dark flat cardboard box, lol.

that said this one so far sounds really good to me. I hear that chunk i like that so far my Dragon's really only got in hi gain anyway.

yeah i couldn't find a tone i liked in the rebels. this amp though, checked a few clips and the tones so far even on youtube impressed me. I'd deifinitely have to play on first but, this is the first prodction Egnater amp i've been stoked for since reading about the rebel (and of course once i heard it and tried it not so much).

my friend went to his seminar a couple years ago and built an amp there and i thought it was awesome but, most of his assembly line amps i haven't been impressed with. I DO like the tourmaster so far and the clips of this thing are awesome so far. I've heard some tweaker clips i dig too but, have yet to really play one. I hated the rebel and renegades though.

Re: Egnater's at it again!

I also had a Rebel and hated it! It had this wierd thing going on in the highs with a certain frequency that actually hurt my ears. I couldn't dial out and it drove me nuts.

...BTW I didn't vote...I've only played a Rebel.

I can't stand the blackstar amps honestly. they all sound like fuzz and mud so far (the big amps and the HT1)

the jet cities sound good though but, i'm concerned with their build quality.

Re: Egnater's at it again!

The namm renegade clips sounded very promising as well. But in real life Im with the rest of you it sounded like ass. The single channel JCA 20 sitting next to the one I tried blew it out of the water in terms of tone.

yeah i hated it.

I want to try this armageddon though. It sounds good so far to me and i'm not a fn usualy of his production amps. I do like the tourmaster though. it weighs close to a hundred pounds for the head alone which is why i don't own one. The triamp's too damn heavy as is and that's why i'm looking to sell it,lol.

That weight wreaks havok on my damaged nerves.
