Ironlung, the 2100 gets hella fat when you switch it down to 50 Watts. I really like how the sound thickens. Keep your 2100 and switch it down to 50 and you'll love it. Sorry for the late response, been a bit busy around here as of late. Congrats on your new SLX!!

    Hey Wrenchdevil6,

I just bought a slx 2100....I am awaiting its arrival, but since then I've seen several slx 2500's for sale that are a bit cheaper. I do not play live, but only record at home....would the 2500 be the best fit for me or can the 2100 sound good for home recording too without being TOO loud?

Anyway, I figured I could sell the 2100 and get a 2500 pretty easily, but I just didn't know if it would be worth the hassel "tonally" speaking.

thanks for any info on these amps. I see you love your 2100. What type of tube compliment would you recommend for this amp? Mine has the 5881's in it now, but I may switch to EL34's when I retube it.

    Thanks,
    Ironlung40
Music I play-70's hard rock, and loads of 90's alt rock and a little metal on occasion.

The SLX man! I rock the 4100 and like it quite a bit. Suppose you've got that extra preamp tube, but on the clean channel I bet we have a pretty similar sound! Got any clips?

Here's my band if you wanna hear the 4100:
