OK, can someone give me a hand with the "level settings" and also the "loop" arrangement on the DSL100 head? I have a DSL100MLB and a Boss GT6 processor. I am not quite sure if the level button on the back panel of the amp head is to be IN or OUT when plugged into the processor. Also, where do you set the level adjustment on the processor? The manual's for both are very unclear. They do make very clear not to set either too high! And what do you check into if your effect's sound is faint when going through the Loop? By now you know I'm no pro, but I think I've got the loop arrangement right according to the manual, please help me not to blow the thing up! THANKS!!! (Joe, my name is Rick, I was referred to you by Marty- can you help?)

I use a T.C. Electronic chorus pedal that I have had for a few years. It has an excellent buffer and is completely noise free so I use it to push both amps, strangely enough I rarely use the chorus effect, it is usually in bypass. I like chorus but my style is changing. I guess everyone's style is constantly changing a little with time.

I a deficient in echo and delay. I have a Lexicon rack that is mounted to the back of my speaker cabinet that runs through my effex loop, this way I have short cable runs (1/2 ft.) to and from the amp. It is super clean and I use it for everything, verb - vibe- trem and delay. I use it very sparingly and control it with a small midi pedal on my board. On the delay i roll off some high end so it doesn't sound too stale. I keep only two or three pedals in front of the amp at a time. I like having a lot at my disposal but only use one or two effects at a time.

I have an Ibanez sound tank. It's cheap, I modded it. I rarely use it but it sounds nice and dirty, sometimes too dirty but it is cool. I want to try a Maxxon but they are expensive. Maybe one of those MXR Carbon copy.

Actually, when I bought that Fulltone boost pedal at the store I tried a Love pedal "Echobaby". It was VERY nice. $200. It had this mod feature and it's really small.
I think that will be my next victim.

Thanks for the ^5 on my SIG. Well the 401 was another "lost gem." The music store stated it had become forgotten in the storage room. That was the story on my other 401 and it worked great. This one didn't get out of the gate. It has been played and probably a return "that got lost and forgotten." I talked with Brian (HampAmp) and we both are thinking that it might have a fried OP tranny, or the bias circuit is screwed up. It had burned V5 and V6 and these tubes "push" the signal. So something is amiss and it is screwing with the positive part of the signal. Funky isn't it. After several calls to the owner of the music store (in PA), a new price was reached and the amp came with its warranty card. I am taking this in and letting Marshall eat the cost of fixing the amp. I'm taking it to KC on Monday. When I get it back, I will let you know what the problem was.

FYI-I did get my SIG to work. It's just that I had to post to "load" it.

Hey you can speak however you want to. I'm a total mess so it won't matter to me. I was trying to figure out how to put my signature up. I thought I had it all taken care of, but then it didn't take. Oh well, back to the drawing board. Nice selection of tubes in the NT by the way. I have too much going on right now to buy a small amp. I just bought another 401 and it has problems, but it is under warranty. However, when the fog lifts, I'm still going to look into one of those 1 to 15 watt amps.

Got a short email from Kevin (sold him a complete set of preamp tubes). He said the clean was super and the crunch and lead channels were night and day over the old tubes. That's what I was waiting to hear. See...NOS tubes do sound better!

Did you think that I gave you a bunch of garbage? Hell no, I gave you some damn nice tubes that you will be able to enjoy for quite some time. Those RCA's are sweet sounding. I'm glad that you like 'em, Joe. Kevin has ordered four tubes and I will make sure he gets some nice ones. He wants to keep it around $105 bucks which shouldn't be a problem. I hope he gives me some good feedback like Josh and you are. Get that sleep, I don't want you leaving that amp on again (he he). Marty

Night Train pulling in to the station. Wooo, Wooo! Did you ever get the NT back to sounding "stock?" Was it the JJ's? (Jackass Junk...just kidding, they make some good tubes for being made this decade.) Let me know. The amp being on all night didn't do a thing except put out a little warm air. Marty
