Jessta,
I was wondering where you disappeared too?
The Lorantz GB's are excellent. I have them in the 2x12 but am going to get another 2 and fill my 1960A with them. The have a pretty flat EQ curve in them so you the AMP EQ really responds well with them and even with my 900 I can get a really good Plexi sound out of ChA. I have heard that the 75W version is aq slightly 'darker' voiced speaker but if you want a bit of speaker breakup you really have to have it loud to get it, and beleive me when you get the 800 you will know what loud really is.
MelbMusic centre sells them and also Lucas Miles Audio sell them. MelbMusic put me onto them when I was going to get Celestion Greenbacks. He said these are better & cheaper and let me try them with the option of returning them should I not be happy.they stayed.
With my 800 I run the pre at about 4.5 and master at 8 and it's classic plexi all the way. Turn up the pre and it gets crazy.
I think you will be happy with them.
Hey man,
Can't remember if I asked before I disappeared for a while or not, but how are the Lorantz greenbacks working out? Especially with the 800.
Once I finish paying off my recent 2203 purchase I'll be loading up a 1960A with the 50watters.
Hi Jessta,
Mainly old school KISS, Maiden Aerosmith. Basically 70's - 80's rock/metal but I also love the 50's original rock n roll as well, to me it's just as good but with lower levels of gain. Chuck Berry's guitar playing when played with more gain can sound so heavy. I saw Maiden in melbourne recently, all the KISS concerts in melb over the last 10+ years(Thats how I got one of Pauls guitars) Paul Stanley's solo tour and just got tickets for the Ace Frehley gig later this month. Also Motley Crue back in 88 + Metallica's 'black' tour > that was a great night, they played till after midnight when they were meant to finish at 11 due to noise regulations.
Just waiting on Aerosmith to get thier act together and make the trip downunder.
