you were absolutely right about moving tubes....I swapped v5 and v6...and gained a touch of headroom....thanks. I dont like the tong sol in v2 tho, Im gonna put the 7025 back tomorrow to take the edge off.

Thanks a ton for the help and insight.

Hey Marty I posted a question in the Power Tubes thread about the possibility of putting 6L6s in a TSL...

    Good evening man
I put a thread out on something that baffles me, but so far no one has commented. I put the new =C='s in, they sound fantastic, but the absolute lowest I cant get for a bias current is 89ma's. The pots are pretty much pegged out low. That's all the adjustment that was there. I am definately confused. They're holding steady at 89...but I can't go lower. Any ideas?

I know you dont recommend putting 2 7025's in series in the gain stage....but damn it made things so much more quiet as far as white noise and really sounded good. I can't wait to get the new power tubes and the tong sol gold hi-gain tomorrow. Im gonna put it in V2 to start with. And I haven't even started the 'Joey mods' yet.

You were absolutely correct, and once again patience is definately not a virtue of mine. Joey got back to me today with some great ideas.

I apologize for driving you crazy, but I have a question. The 'joey mods' and the 'drunken irishman mods' all in the same thread have roots with Joey_Voltage. TwinACStacks suggested I consult with Joey before I did both alterations, so I did. Joey asked me what I was looking for as far as tone change goes, I told him, he said he would look at the changes and get back to me. That was tuesday, I respectfully PM'd him tonight and asked had he had a chance yet since I was planning on going to the local electronics store in the morning. He was online when I sent it, he logged out right afterwards. I can read a schematic pretty well and the thread in the 'joey mods' sticky is pretty straight forward. Should I wait on Joey or just forge ahead?

Sorry to bother you, but Im curious about something. I know what my fluke 77 said, I know the difference I see once i set things right..but looking at those convoluted schematics I swear I don't understand how you get 238 mA's in bias current to start with. Am I missing something or is something blown and I don't know it yet?
