Hi John, just wanted to let you know I got my Vintage 30 installed in my 401 and really like it. I know it takes awhile to break in, so I know it will only get better.
Anyways my question is about building a new 1x12 speaker cab for it. I currently am using an old Crate 1x12, but it isn't as wide as the 401. Looks kind of lame. Would you be able to give me the dimentions and materials you used for yours. I could probably try and copy the Avitar design and use birch plywood. I believe their modern cab is 22"x18"x12". Also, did you use Dadoe and Rabbit joints on the corners. Any additional info would be helpful too. Thanks. -Mike
Hi John, I was browsing thourgh some old posts and saw your reply in "mg series" and you mentioned on 9/02/2010 about a mod where you increase the gain but at low volume to get a warmer OD tone from a MG10? I have an MD15CD and was thinking of maybe doing something to warm the tone of the OD, if possible and not too complicated. So what did you do exactly, and would you have some sort of diagram you could scan & email. Ket me know, Thanks, Ray in NJ (Webslinger)
Hey John. Just thought I would stop in and say, "Hello." I'm glad you made it through the Backstage ordeal. What a bunch of crap. I hope that certain guys learned something from that. Anyway, I'm glad you are still around. Take care.
I've read a lot of posts in here and just recently joined. I've noticed that you seem very knowledgable. I have an AVT150H with a custom built 2x12 cab. One of the fans is very niosy (like bad bearings/bushings) for about 10 - 15 seconds after I turn it on cold. I'm having trouble trying to find replacement fans so I don't fry the amp. All I can find at local stores are 12v rated fans. I've looked at the ones in my ame and they are 24v rated. Any suggestions on where to get the replacements?
