You can't beat the sustain of the TS9. I use one of those for solos. Mine is the dx version. Has 4 knobs. Another great tubescreamer for cheap in the digitech bad monkey. I've got one of those too. That pedal will be gaining reputation in the future, once people give it a go. The mxr microamp will not give you the sustain of the tubescreamers, but it definitely increases your volume and gain without adding or taking away any tone...just your pure amp "pushed" just a bit.
You said that the JMP 2203 will be very similar tonally to the JCM 2203's(early 80's)? Should I get a JCM 800 instead? They're easier to find.
I have a 2204 JCM now, but I was hoping the JMP would be a little more "vintage sounding" if that makes sense. I guess I want the ability to sound more like the 60's and 70's rock, but still have some 80's gain on tap too.
i think that would be perfect. I've been wanting a MXR micro amp for a while. I've been using a TS9 Tube screamer for a while but I'm a big fan of MXR stuff. What you are going to be using would definitely be perfect for that amp and you would get good saturation of the effects at low volumes.
