Well yea, it's a one-off. But it may become a future sig model. I like vintage-y vibe of the guitar. You don't see that often on a 7/8-string.

And yea on the B7/8's. Walnut, Satin Grey/Black and Natural. I like the Walnut the most though.

You'll love the Schecter, it's amazing. I agree the dots give it a neater look.

But god damn. Those Jacksons.. It's like they read my mind. The only thing that's meh is the 27'' scale. But for direct mounted 8's I'll take it and slap a set of heavier strings on, haha. I absolutely love the walnut finish too.

Incidentally, have you seen this? Looks like there's an Iceman-esque 8-string Ibby in the works after all.

Great offers. I still can't figure out how many batteries they put in the EMG/Sustainiac guitars. I should probably mail Schecter to ask or something.

If it's just 1 then I guess I'm ripping out the 81 and popping a passive in there.

Also that Platinum 8-string is the most affordable 8-stringer I've seen with amazing features. I may pick one of those up as a permanent active-equipped one.

    Great stuff, thanks for posting.

I don't mind EMGs at all. In fact, I would probably leave it stock as well (apart from the 18v mod). I have a couple EMG-equipped guitars that I still play regularly. I just don't use them mainly anymore because I've started playing a little differently and I find that for what I do mainly at the moment passives work better than EMGs.

But yes. I'm praying there's another battery tucked away somewhere. Powering a sustainer and an active pup off of one 9v kind of skeeves me.

Yeah Schecter's doing some attractive stuff by the looks of it.

And as for the Ibanez 8.. Well.. **** it. I still want one. It may be a bitch to play but at least I'll look ****ing badass.

I've never played a Schecter bass. Actually I've played just one or two Schecters in my life ever before getting my SLS C-8.

The quality of the C-8 is impeccable. Haven't had any issues with it so far.

Thanks for pointing me towards the Platinum FR-S. I've been looking for a budget sustainiac guitar to abuse. I do wonder where they leave the additional battery (since there's only one battery cover on the back) OR if both the EMG 81 and the sustainiac are powered off of one 9v in which case that would be kind of a letdown.

The SLS FR-S model is outfitted with a Duncan Full Shred. But I consider it too expensive to buy ''just for fun''.

Interesting. I'd love to see an 8-string production Iceman. I saw one for the first time with Meshuggah and fell in love with it immediately. One of the few body shapes that actually looks better with more strings. Other than that I've never really cared for Ibanez much.

Curious move for ESP. I almost forgot about the FR27. Damn.. So many nice guitars. I'm slowly being seduced by the Buckethead Les Paul too.. I don't really like LP's, but this is a serious 24-fret 27''-scaled shred monster. It's an old release, but the bottom line is that I don't know where to put my money.

I should commit to winning the lottery.

Yeah, the BC Rich one didn't appeal to me either, but it's good to see progress. BC Rich has been fairly disappointing with their releases lately (to me, anyway). Recently they released some sketchy sig. guitars for (among others) the Black Veil Brides guitarists (who in my opinion are like the Jonas Brothers of metal).

What I did like was the release of budget neck-through models. I'm thinking of picking up a couple Warlocks.

I've recently started to pay more attention to EMG again. I'm probably going to try that 81-8. The thing is that ever since I was introduced to the M model Lundgrens I don't need EMGs at all. And in a couple of months I'm hoping to get my hands on an MHD Walter which is said to rival actives as well. I'm still deciding on a good guitar to put those in.

Needless to say I'll be keeping an eye on NAMM, as I always do. I'm really excited what new stuff they're going to come out with. Especially Marshall.

What sorta stuff are you eyeing personally?
