Thanks, Dave. Let me ask you something. You say you have a an '88' (which by default is the 1v/1hum). Is the vol knob a push/push for a coil tap or is it just a volume knob. I was there with my buddy around '92' when he got my 90. The idiot fanboy basically trashed it by routing it for the second pickup, and that wasn't the worst of things... When I got the 90 double which had the push/push coil tap, I had to verify with Gibson that it was original, because I have no memory of the 90 having that.

A good choice to keep it, let us all know how it plays when you get it back.

Hi Dave, Just popped over to say hello and ask what you decided to d with the Gibson Explorer 90? Last I heard it was set up... did it play well? Are happy with it now?
You should keep it, those split block inlays are neat! See you about, John

Have not seen that one...saw their 'blue box' octafuzz, but not the silicon one. Let me know what you think of it.

The BOSS one was 'ok'. I'd want to go true bypass since it won't be on all the time. I leave my other boss pedals on all the time so the 'tone suck' issue is moot. There are a bunch of DIY fuzz kits online. May go that route if I can't find one that gels...or just mod the DOD Classic Fuzz to a true-bypass...the Classic fuzz sounds great on top of an already driven amp. I'll let you know what I test. Hit me up if you run across any fuzzes you love or hate.

I tried one at GC on a mesa and it sounded huge. Not very 'dry' in terms of the fuzz. Lots of gain too. In the end, I decided that my sound didn't need more gain, it needs FUZZ that is crackly and sustains like nobody's business. The pedal needs to be my lead boost on top of the already driven Marshall. Thanks for the info! Tried a Fender Blender or a Fuzz Factory? Other fuzzes? The Mastortion was ok, Big Muff, meh, Angry Fuzz was cool, like the octaver piece. That's what made me look into the Blender.

Hey man, how you liking the Swollen Pickle? Thinking of getting one to use w/my 6100. Does it still rock for crazy leads/sustain?
