I just liked the challenge. It was a lot harder to play our old stuff that we wrote in drop while I wwas in standard and I'm already used to the fresh new stuff in standard. You were right though... it's making me a whole lot quicker. I think sometimes people like to argue for the sake of argument. It may have nothing to do with their personal tastes at all... just looking for a point to argue.

Yeah, some people are hung up on playing a certain way, maybe I am too. I jammed with some guys that played in drop d flat for a little while and I just played in d flat standard and never had a problem keeping up. I figure it's no use mentioning those kind of details back on the drop tuned thread since it seems like no one really gets what I was talking about. It's better I just let that one go.
I personally think you would have more options in a standard type tuned band, no matter how low you actually tune.
I've always like C standard. I've felt like it was as low as you can go without losing integrity in your tone. I like a lot of bands that play in B-standard too but I think C just sounds a little better.

So I tried something new out the other day... a band I play bass in has always played in drop C and with the new music being ultra melodic metal I made a suggestion to them. I told them I was going to start playing in standard C and I thought that they would be up to the challenge of learning most of what they wrote in C standard... But they were like... "Do you know how freakin' hard that'd be?!!" so I did it anyway and am thinking about switching to standard D flat for my band I play guitar in. I'm tinkering with it at the moment...

I thought that was one of the funniest things I've ever heard. I did dabble in them for a few months but yea... definately didn't hate myself as a teenager.
