I live in the NW suburbs, right near Arlington Heights. I remember talking to you about something a while back, my girlfriends parents live out in Woodstock. The MkIII at the moment is that sound I had in my head, I couldn't quite get there with the DSL. The DSL could sound awesome, however on hollow wood stages especially it always sounded really trebly, on solid floors it sounded awesome. I guess it depends on where it's played and so on. The 98 sounded pretty different to the 04, even with the same tubes and bias, was weird - had way less cut and less volume. I guess like the 800s and 900s there are ok ones and great ones. I do love my 04, I could just never 'quite' get there with it. Response wise the mkiii is great, I'd say I'd prefer my DSL for lead playing but I do predominantly rhythm and the MkIII wins out in that respect. Don't get me wrong though, I love the DSL, I guess as I've had it so long I'm more critical of it than my other amps

Hey man thought I'd carry on the DSL talk on here so as not to clog up that guys thread - I've owned both a 98 DSL and an 04 DSL, I sold the 98 as it was a very average sounding amp. The 04 I've got I love, I guess I'm just overly critical of it lol. The red channel served me well for years but I was never blown away by it, I used to gig it all the time with the master right up. I really liked the green crunch dimed though, that sounded awesome. At one stage I was using a full stack for gigs, initially with G12T-75s, with the master on 8 that would cause serious hearing loss lol. I moved to vintage 30s and that improved the tone, I guess I was still never fully happy with the Red channel though. DSLs are still awesome amps and I'd gladly use them for gigs, I just prefer my MkIII at the moment!

Hey Adrian... finally got my DSL 100. I had to take it to my amp tech though. It was buzzing so loud. come to find out it was a resistor(or something like that my tech said) that was loose. Got it back home after repair and cranked it up in stereo with my 900.. it kills!!! I'm not running my bbe through the DSL, just through the 900. I did try running the 362 through the dsl effects loop to see how its effects loop worked. I got God awful hiss...even with the 362 off, so I wonder if it's the fx loop jacks or my cables.... anyway... it sounds amazing!! Thanks Adrian for all your advice..

Wow..KOOL man..Your gonna love it dude! Lemme know what you think when it comes..It can run in either 9/18v..I believe it sounds better in 18v...but it still sounds great in 9v mode. The ONLY downside of that pedal is there is no way to run it in 18v without an adapter. My pedal board has one of those buss boxes..and it allows me to run 9 and 18v pedals...its the Gator board...works great...compact unit..

Maybe one day brother, but right now I am completely blown away by this current 2204! I liked that 2500 I had, but this BLOWS it away! WAY, WAY more power..and far richer tone..

If I were you, I'd try out an 800 with the 6550's in it. Being that you're into oldschool metal, that sound nails it. If you can try one out.

    Hey man,
Diggin' the 800 huh? I was on mine all day. Was it stock with el34's or did it originally have 6550's?
