EMG Active Pickup Set 89-SA-SA black $60 shipped
The covers are kinda worn but overall in great shape. One SA has a little chunk of plastic missing on the back, does not show and does not affect the pickup at all. I extended the leads on the pickups (solder and heat shrink tubing) so they would be plenty long enough for a strat-style pickguard or guitar. I've had them in a cheap strat copy but the guitar takes away from the enjoyment of the pickups. The set consists of an 89 humbucker (coil tap option), and two SA Single Coils wired into a 3-ply parchment pickguard and ready to go. $60 shipped.

Re: EMG Active Pickup Set 89-SA-SA black $60 shipped
die, if I'd known you were looking I'd have sold them to you ages ago. I don't think I've used them in a couple of years at least. I got them out of the junk box at the local mom & pop store for a very reasonable price. I was amazed that two of them worked! They are some of the older pickups, probably from 1990-ish or earlier. The preamp was bad in one of the SA pickups and I picked up one off eBay for a decent price that fit right in. The 89 humbucker is pretty much the 85 pickup IIRC with the switchable single coil/humbucker winding.
Pete, speaking of the split wiring on the 89, you can simply install a push-pull volume pot or add a DPDT mini toggle switch and accomplish the same thing. These older wiring diagrams are hard to find on the EMG page. A better source for all possible wirings of the 89 pickup is Wiring Diagrams Here's the mini toggle wiring: ![]() Here's the wiring for humbucker mode only. It shows the green (hot) wire going to the middle lug on the volume pot. Just move that to the 5-way switch if you're using the standard Strat setup. ![]() One other thing: the middle pickup tone control is wired to both the bridge humbucker and the middle single-coil on the assembly you'll be getting. If you want no tone control on the bridge, just clip the bare wire on the 5-way switch between the 2nd and 3rd lugs from the left on the side facing the volume & tone controls. Here's a link to the full wiring diagram for two singles and a humbucker with push/pull coil tap on the volume knob and standard Strat 5-way wiring: http://www.sonic.net/~emgman/89diag.html |
