Got my JVM today!

Yes!!! And I love it

Auch the OD2 channels are incredible, too much gain 'doh... I can't play them

Aaaaah they are not for me, I prefer the Green Crunch with a healthy Plexi tone

Re: Got my JVM today!

Which version is it? If I was to get a new Marshall I think I would lean towards the JVM.

Ahhh, yes! The feeling of becoming the owner of a JVM. Giving your initial high gain shock about OD2, I'd say you are the owner of a 410. Yes, you will learn one thing quick: you may not be able to use all of your favorite amp settings from past amps with your new 410. Why not? It is very much a different amp in many respects. Some of your old settings will transfer well, but more times than not, you gotta come up with your own. Don't look to Marshall for help-they don't offer any suggestions for making your 410 sound like a (fill in this parenthesis with your favorite amp name), or for getting "so-and-so's" guitar sound, etc. You can go to the JVM forum for some tips, or you can do what I have done: come up with your own through playing the amp. You guitar, your cab/speakers, your choice of effects, playing style, etc., will have a huge impact on your sound, so you will find that some things work and some don't. But don't be discouraged-it gets even better with time.

The trick with the OD2 channels is that you really have to find the balance between gain and volume, IMHO. If you max the gain and max the channel volume, and max the master volume, you will almost surely get nothing but feedback, hiss, squeal, etc. and you will sound like poo poo. I know that some of those great Marshall amps required you to really turn up some of those volume and gain controls, but like I said earlier, you are playing a different amp, so you gotta take some time to rethink things and find a way that works for you. You may find that for some songs you will not need OD2, and that's ok-it will be there waiting for you when you do need tons of gain.

Good to hear you are enjoying the 410. Read the manual. Search here and the JVM forum for tips. Play often.
