Lead 12 Interest

Thought I'd post a couple pics of 2 Marshall Lead 12's I have for guts comparison. I'm no aficionado, but I found it interesting - maybe you will too.

First one is a 1982 (S/N ends in P):

Second one is a 1985 (S/N begins with T):

The PCB's are different, and so is layout to a degree. Both have been given "extra holes" in the chassis for different output options.

Of the two, the '82 has a fuller, richer, warmer tone... but they both surprisingly kick royal ass for such little things. Neither have their original cab - so I built a Marshally looking box with one 12" ceramic speaker. The '82 is in there now.

With or with out pedals - they both rock with some pretty good volume and a driven tone that rivals amps costing way more.

Wow, that's fabulous. And you're quite a box builder. How much does a guy pay for a Lead 12? I see no tubes.

I recently sold a Lead 12 full stack in white...I loved that little bastard!

You are a hell of a cab builder my friend.

Re: Lead 12 Interest

I've got a couple of Lead 12's. They are amazing for their size and the fact they are transistor amps. I've run mine in stereo with my gt8 and the sound is incredible!

Cool Re: Lead 12 Interest

I sold mine a good few years ago and wish I'd have kept it. Anyone selling one at all?? (lead 12 reverb even more so!)

Re: Lead 12 Interest

I appreciate the compliments!

To rvin28: eBay always has several Lead 12's in the 5005 (combo) and 3005 (micro stack) flavors.

Thanks m8. I'm one of those that never gets rid of anything I buy, I mean anything. I've got a house full of Marshalls and any effects pedal you could imagine. Cheers.
