2000 Marshall 1987x Reissue
Is it worth paying US$800 for a 2000 Marshall 1987x reissue? I want to be able to hear a nice breakup at room volume, not at stadium volume. The other thing is that I dont have a cabinet. A friend of mine is selling me a 15 years old JCM800 4 celestion speaker cabinet for US$275He has not used it in the last 10 years, could the speakers be rotten?
Can I get the same Jimmy Page live 72´ & 73´ tone at lower volumes through one of the Ceriatone kits? Please advise. I dont want to spent that big chunk of money in order to obtain an overdriven tone at volume 6 or 7 when they neighbours are getting pissed at me. |

Re: 2000 Marshall 1987x Reissue
They are really loud and I wouldn't use it as my only amp.
Here is another way to look at it.. Do you know how some fathers own a Corvette that they take out only on the weekends for fun? This is what I think these amps are like. They are not the average day car but something you let loose on the weekend. It is more famous because of how historical the amp is. It has an old technology to it, so it is not going to be as easy to get tone as a new amp would allow. |
