Effects Loop Question
Hi, I have a JCM 2000 TSL 122 and I had a question about the effects loop on the amp. It seems that when I turn up the FX Mix knob to the desired level, the sound:
1. Loses its bite and edge 2. Loses some volume The best compromise I've figured out is to have the knob on 4, but I would still like to hear the reverb and delay more clearly. I read the manual and it said that the loop converts to series mode when its on 10... but it drains even more bite and volume. So my question is, would the loop sound any different if I had a tech make it a series loop? P.S. See Eruption for the loop level I want... and yet the sound still retains its bite. Hmmm, I wonder if Eddie uses a series loop? |

Re: Effects Loop Question
You are not alone - there is at least one other thread that discusses this topic as well:
JVM 205h Effects Loops problem Unfortunately I have not yet managed to solve this problem despite trying the different db settings on my amps fx loop as well as on my delay.

Re: Effects Loop Question
Are you running your effects in the loop 100% wet (the dry/wet settings on the actual effects themselves)? If not, you should be in a parallel loop.

Re: Effects Loop Question
The level of the effects themselves are 100% maxed. That's not where the problem is. The problem is that when I set the amp's FX knob to a level that sounds good, it completely robs the sound and volume of the amp.

Re: Effects Loop Question
Wait a minute... I have the same problem with the Loop in the Silver Jubilee - supposed to be -10db but sounds like crap with a pedal in the loop (even if the pedal is off).
Is it possible that I'm doing something wrong and the loop is built for line level rack gear or something? Can they have built a stock loop on a production run amp that simply doesn't work? (and repeated the mistake years later?) Any other Jubilee users with ball-sucking loops? |

Re: Effects Loop Question
I'm using a Boss reverb and an Ibanez delay. But the problem is the same with any other effect I put in (for example, my Digitech delay). Basically I want it to sound like it does in a studio where you apply the delay/reverb after the dry track is cut. In other words, the volume and bite of the sound would not be affected. Is that impossible on this amp?

Re: Effects Loop Question
That's the way mine sounds with the alesis.
I think maybe you need to use rack effects to avoid tone/volume loss. I can set mine up so that it is LOUDER with the effects loop switched in (which I don't, obviously, but it's possible) |
