hey i was wondering...
ok my amp booklet that i got with my mg100hdfx stack says that this head can drive "any cab from the marshall range" does that mean that i could say get a 1960 cab and it would play? it is a solid state so will it drive a valve cab? |

Re: mg 100hdfx head with valve cabs? help?
Yep, you can drive a 1960 cab from an Mg head. In fact a beaten up old 1960 is IMO a much better thing to buy than a new Mg cab for similar $ and will last you longer (ie forever) and hold its value . If you want max power from the Mg amp, set the 1960 cab to 4 Ohms.

Quote:
It doesn't need to be a Marshall, but Marshall would like you to buy theirs. Don't get me wrong the 1960 cabs are the biz, have one myself, but just saying you're not tied to using a Marshall cab. Once the power rating of the cab is at, or above, the power rating of your amp (ie 100 Watts) then you're golden, you don't even need to worry about impedance. Don't mind the guy giving you a slagging, he's obviously some kind of electrical god, so leave him at it.
