Marshall 2203 Superlead head

I've found a £150 deal on a 1979 Superlead 2203 Marshall head. 2 inputs. I believe the amp has MV but I dunno - maybe someone could clarify for me?

Also, I want to know how much the amp is worth. It's been re-tolexed but all the electronics and the front panel are intact. I have to convince my parents that if I didn't like it, I could resell it for a profit before I buy it (I won't be able to try first due to both me and the seller not owning a cab which matches the head ohm wise).

So:
how much is it worth?
Will it have MV?
What kind of tone are we looking at?

Thanks a lot for your help!!!

It will have a Master Volume, 2203s do.
Your looking at raw, aggressive, thunder bolts from hell tone wise!!
Think Zack Wylde, Kerry King, Slash, Rage Against The Machine etc.
No comment on the value, but if it's in the condition you say then if you don't buy it for that price I will!!

that sounds pretty much like what I'm looking for - what about vintage rock tones? Also, will it run at relatively loud bedroom volumes?

IMO, it's little to aggressiving for Zep, Hendrix et al, so I also bought a JMP!!
The gain and bottom end of the 2203 increase as the master is brought up and really kicks in after 4 on the master. That's way to loud for bedroom usage. You may want to consider getting an attenuator.

Re: Marshall 2203 Superlead head

maybe I should continue looking - what I really want is impossible - basically an original JTM45 with MV

On the other hand, £150, is only £150....

Re: Marshall 2203 Superlead head

I've decided to hunt for something with a more vintage tone - for those of you who are interested, here is the auction - thank you for your help! Hmm... maybe I'll save a couple of years and grab a '60s bluesbreaker....
