DSL FX Loop cut button ?

Mine seems to make no difference when its IN or OUT... The only thing in my loop is a DD3 delay. But again what does this button do ? Could it be not working ? I used a Blue Voo Doo once, and the cut button on it's loop, you could hear a difference. Anybody else experience this with a DSL?

Re: DSL FX Loop cut button ?

One setting is for pedals, the other is for rack gear (line level). The difference is that the low output setting is too low for line level and the line level is too high for pedals. Some pedals can take a higher level signal but some can't (like my older Boss Chorus CE-2).

Thank you... so I should have it IN for my DD-3 floor pedal ?

Re: DSL FX Loop cut button ?

The DSL loop level button settings aren't labeled on the back of the head and it isn't documented properly in the manual. I have a DSL100MLB and here is a recent response I got from Korg USA tech support on this topic:

"We recommend simply experimenting with the switch setting and comparing to see which provides the best result for your particular setup (based on personal preference and desired result). Neither setting should damage the amplifier or the effects connected. Generally speaking, guitar pedals and other products (if not switchable) tend to run at or around a -10 signal level while other professional grade and studio gear (such as those with balance inputs & outputs and some guitar equipment) operates at a +4 signal level. On this model, when the effects loop level button is push in, it is operating at -10 and when pushed out, it is +4."

So you would typically push this button in for stomp box type effects like your Boss DD-3. Unless of course it sounds better with the button left out. I have a few effects where I can't tell much of a difference.

Thank you, That makes alot of sense, and my DD-3 is one that you can not hear a difference...

Re: DSL FX Loop cut button ?

It's pretty much the same with my Maxon AD-999 delay. Sometimes I actually wonder if that button is connected to anything inside the chassis...

Re: DSL FX Loop cut button ?

Yeah it's a shame that they couldn't explain it properly in the manual. I had to email to find out what the settings are. I actually have the button out for my pedals, the phaser and delay.
