Re: OZZY fires ZAKK??
Zakk Wylde is annoying at best. Him and his annoying pinch harmonic squealing he constantly does. Extremely annoying at best. The worst guitar player Ozzy has ever had. And he looks like an over-hairy ape.

Re: OZZY fires ZAKK??
You can't deny that the guy has created quite an empire for himself with that biker/Viking image. It's almost like a tough self-image competition between Zakk and Kerry King. I've read that both guys are real softies however and not at all like their public personas.
I agree on the pinch harmonics- to me they should be like exclamation points and used sparingly only to accentuate certain lines. Plus on active EMG pickups it's so damn easy to hit pinch harmonics every single note if you want to. Non-players in the crowd think it's cool though... What I don't get is the spitting lugies constantly on stage. Maybe the guy has a real medical problem. ![]() I do still like his playing up to the late 80's / early 90's. It works out well for me since I'm in denial and in my mind we still ARE in that time period.

Re: OZZY fires ZAKK??
Everybody has an opinion about who is this and who is that,so all im gonna say is Good riddance to Zakk. I can appreciate that he is a good or great guitar player, i once enjoyed and actually liked his music, but he changed for the worse in MY OPINION. The whole drunken i gotta be the baddest motherfuker on the block attutide is old hat man, grow the fuck up already bring that shit down to the south side of Peoria and he would get that ugly ass les paul shoved right up his ass. And im tired of looking at those bullseye les pauls, jesus christ what a way to ruin an amazing instrument, slap some stupid fuking bulls eye on it....i had a rough day at work....ozzy should have fired him LONGGG ago.....
![]() ![]() For those of you who have bullseye les pauls, you are excluded, they are great guitars i have played them, Zakk just played them out, huge difference.... |

Re: OZZY fires ZAKK??
Only thing I really liked about Zakk was that Stillborn song, albeit not an 'Ozzy' song, and the fact that he often wore a Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. sweatshirt under that vest getup....one of my fave's.

Re: OZZY fires ZAKK??
Still can't believe Georgie Lynch never got the gig.
"He wasn't intimidated by Eddie as a player....He was actually more intimidated musically by George Lynch. We used to see George play, and Randy would say, 'This guy is much better than Van Halen!' " --Alan de Perna (p. 78: GW, March 2005) |

Re: OZZY fires ZAKK??
Funny thing George was intimidated by Eddie and admitted it many times over the years.
Gus G is a temporary solution for a waning transition to life after the stage for Ozzy imo.

Re: OZZY fires ZAKK??
Probably because that's more of a "Roger Waters" kind of thing to do
LOL

Re: OZZY fires ZAKK??
Meh, just have Ozzy plug-in Buckethead. He's a total robot, but there's nothing he can't play. He'd actually sound more soulful than Zakk. Ozzy would have used him before, but Buckethead wouldn't play without his mask!

Re: OZZY fires ZAKK??
Ain't rock and roll great? Man, the shit that goes on that we don't know about. Who is afraid of who? Who plays better than who, or at least thinks so? Top 10 best guitarist? Well that has most certainly changed since I started playing.
Is Eric Clapton still a "God?" Jimmy Page? Robin Trower? Or is it ZW, George Lynch, EVH or Satriani...or one of a 100 other fantastic guitarists out there? What makes someone the best? A bunch of fast taps, or some really good string work? I've been around. I've personally seen "no name" guitarist's that would put a frown on many of today's top guitarist. Just remember, for every well known guitarist, there are a dozen "in the bedroom" guitarist's that are better. There is talent out there that the public will never get to see. I'm sure some of you guys have run across this yourself. This new guy, Gus...doesn't do a thing for me. Ozzy could have done way better. ![]() ![]()
