Before I do some damage to my EL34 50/50
Hi guys, picked one of the above up on ebay. The intention is to use it in the home studio with a JMP1 and then into a Palmer PDI-03 which has a dummy load. I may just take the fuses out of channel B to avoid the risk of turning that channel on with no load.
I will only be using one side of the amp but the Palmer only has a single speaker input (8 0hm) whereas the EL34 has two speaker outputs . I was expecting it to have two speaker out puts per channel and 1 of them (as with the valvestate power amps) to have 1 marked mono output. I am guessing this isnt a issue and as long as 1 of the outputs on say channel A has a load on it then all is fine? |

You're correct. it's the total load per side. If you have one 8ohm speaker plugged into one output, set it for 8. If you have two 16ohm speakers plugged in per side set it to 8. Leaving one output per side unused is not a problem.
I run two cabs per side. the cabs are wired to 32ohms, thus I select 16ohms out per side. Sometimes, I run two cabs on one side and a custom built, monitor type cab on the other. Two outs on one side, one out on the other. Good idea about pulling the fuses.
