Valvestate 2000 AVT questions

I'm considering adding a used Valvestate 100 watt combo to my collection. I am not all that familiar with this series. It seems that there are 2 generations. The one I am looking at is a AVT 2000 series. Can anyone tell me if this if correct and what the difference is between the generations?

Re: Valvestate 2000 AVT questions

I am new to Marshalls and certainly new to the AVTs but I just got one, an AVT50 combo, and it is an amazing amp. FWIW after all the research I did on the web people seem to like the AVT50 better than the 100 watt version with regard to tone and distortion. I'm amazed Marshall doesn't make this series anymore. It's great and the reviews were so good all over the web.

Re: Valvestate 2000 AVT questions

indeed, the first series (avt 2000) is far superior to the newer avtx series- I have owned them both. Got an avt275 from 2001 and still have it

great (not so little) amp, other was a bag of wank tonally for me.

Re: Valvestate 2000 AVT questions

the valvestate line has 3 generation. valvestate I (early 90's), valvestate II (mid 90's) and AVT2000 (2000). later on marshall released the AVT tribute series, but it has the same internal componets as the AVT2000, just a different outer covering. but as fare as the difference between the series, you can go to marshall's web site and it will tell you what you want to know. i have the AVT2000 and have had the valvestate I, both are very simular in tone and sound, but yet different in there own way. if that makes any sense to you. i personaly prefer the AVT series, the tone is a little more modern.
