Re: help needed by all you fine folk
Here's a link to the manual.
http://www.marshallamps.com/download...0hbk%20Eng.pdf It would seem 4ohm would be your best option, you could pick up a 16ohm 4x12 cab & rewire it to give 4ohm, you will get the help on here about how to do it if you decide to go ahead. |

With the AVT it is a "minimum" 4 ohm that is required. You don't have to match exactly as it is not a tube amp. The AVT cabinets were 8ohms, but it will play just fine through a standard 1960 cab at 16ohms or 4.

Re: help needed by all you fine folk
Any cab >4 Ohms will work, but youll get most power with lower Ohms, with this amps solid-state output. If it gives 50W into 4 Ohms it will do about 30W into 8 Ohms (not really much difference in loudness - a good option for you) and maybe 15W into 16Ohms

Re: help needed by all you fine folk
If you're dead set on getting a 4 ohm cab, you can also look for a 16 ohm cab, then rewire the speakers so that they're all in parallel. Four 16 ohm speakers paralleled will give you a 4 ohm load.
However, as has been mentioned above, running higher than 4 ohms will only drop your power output some - since there's only 3dB of volume difference when the power is cut in half, I doubt it would be enough to even matter. But since solid state amps are not transformer coupled like valve amps are, impedance matching goes out the window. Hope this helps.
