Marshall Class 5

Firstly,
Hi to everyone being a new member to the forum as of this evening.

Has anyone bought a new class 5 yet?

If so, does yours have have an internal rattle at certain frequencies?

I have just had one exchanged and behold, the 2nd amp has exactly the same rattle at the same frequencies!

Does anyone have an insight to this as I am loathe to return this one if there is indeed a cure to the problem.

Re: Marshall Class 5

Don't have one but want one if they rock...does it rock? Sound like a Fender Champ or what?

Re: Marshall Class 5

The simple answer is yes - classic Marshall!
I have a DSL201 loaded with a vintage 30 and with 2 x 12 marshal cab loaded with greenback reissues.
I also have a Matamp Little Rock with a 1 x 12 extention cab containing a late 60's 12H greenback.
The Marshall Class 5 can be called a micro bluesbreaker without doubt whatsoever. Its a very bassy/middy amp like the 18 or 40ish originals. Its one of the few amps of this size where you have to back off the bass (I use this at level 2 all the time).
Don't be fooled by the 5 watt tag - is only half the output of a 50 watter not 10 times less - and remember this is valve not transistor so this clean level doen't come into the equation here.
Having no master volume means that you need to work the guitar volume - and its not a 'one trick pony' as I have read in some of the mags recently as it a has a whole variety of tones.

Well worth the money but will be even better if I can get the rattle sorted out (this may be due to the thinner chassis).

Still not as loud as the Matamp at only 4 watts! - with a 6V6 output tube this is far more of a Fender clean sounding amp (like a mini Bassman with the right speakers)

Before you ask:

Guitars - 89 USA strat; 73 Deluxe Les Paul; 02 Les Paul Junior Special Plus (awesome!) and a new 72 reissue Telecaster Thinline.

Hope this helps
