Thumbs down Marshall JCM2000 TSL has no power output

Hi there,

can someone please help, my amp has lost all it's power, when you plug in the guitar, you get some sound but like a 10th of how loud it should sound. On the clean sound the volume knob is ineffective, you can put it at 0 or 10 and you get the same volume. On the crunch channels, you get a very dirty sounding distortion mixed with the clean sound, and the volume actually works but the change is very small, at level 0 you get no sound and at level 10 you get some sound but not much. Could this be the Power Amp that's closed shop, or the transformer? I took the amp to a technician who specializes in all sorts of sound equipment and he could not fix it.

Can some one please help or at least guide me in the right direction??

thanks

First thing to try that you can do yourself is try new preamp valves. If it is in fact the power valves, if you have no previous electronics or amp experience I'd leave these to a tech.

There's also some LDR switching going on in that schematic and one of those could be dead. Could be any number of things. I suggest definitely finding another tech.

If you're not opposed to shipping your amp, we offer repair services as well.

Let me know if I can be of any help.

Jon
