Can 6100LE(100W) use a cab with lower w?(55W)

I'm still waiting for my new(OLD)100w 6100LE to arrive and are wondering if I can use a :
2x12 cabinet (with a g12m (25w -1972) and a g12h(30w) 55w alltogether)
without destroy anything.. the 6100LE also has different power settings. 100/50/25 . I guess I have to use the 50w/25w setting? can I use the 100w setting?
And..which ohm setting?

newbee..
thx

Set ohms on your amp according to what the speakers measure as a pair. Your cab won't handle 55 watts as such, as - assuming both spkrs are same ohms - the 25 watt speaker would be getting 27.5 watts into it as would the 30 watter. Therefore for practical purposes the wattage of the cab would be dictated by the lowest rated speaker in it.

You can safely put a 100w amp into a 50w cab as long as you keep the amp volume low enough to ensure it's only putting out 50 watts or less. Whack it right up and you'll almost certainly bust the speaker coils after a few minutes.

Generally speaking, when you have multiple speakers of different wattage, you take the lowest wattage speaker times the number of speakers and that is your max power handling for that cab. In your case, 25x2 = 50 watt cab. You will be fine at the 25 watt setting and OK at the 50 watt setting if you are careful with volume. I would avoid the full 100 watts although I've run 120 watts into a single 100 watt speaker as well as 50 watts into a single 30 watt speaker without any problems. In each case I kept the volume at reasonable levels.

I usually recommend a cab with a minimum of 120 watts power handling with a 100 watt head. And if you like to play the amp really loud with fX this might not be enough. It all boils down to how much square wave your speakers are seeing. Square waves result in excess heat build-up on the voice coils.

So, if you are going to use this cab and play it hard, I would only recommend the 25 watt setting. If you are going to play it reasonable, then you could get by playing in the 50 watt mode if you are playing at say a max of 35 watts.

It would probably be a good idea to pick up a 4 x 12 cab loaded with 35+ watt speakers for use with the full 100 watts.

Ok, Thanks!

What about the Ohm-setting, When I put the amp on half power for instance in a cabinet for 16 ohm, should I put the cable in the 8 ohm?

others may correct me if i'm wrong !!!
but i think you can leave your ohm setting alone , if its a 16ohm cab , then set it
on 16 ohm setting .

Re: Can 6100LE(100W) use a cab with lower w?(55W)

Thanks again!
What about this:
I have two cabinets, One 16 ohm 4x12(stereo 2x8ohm) and one 2x12 with 8ohm(50w)

Could I set the 4x12 in stereo mode and use only one side, and also use the 2x12cab(50w) ?
and the setting 4/16 ohm on the amp?

Want to bet? This is terrible advice!!!! There is NO WAY to know what's coming out until it's too late. Put a 100 watt Marshall's volume on 3 and I guarantee you'll blow a 50 watt cabinet in very short order. Is 2 Safe? who knows...better off getting correct equipment. Or keep the output at 25 watts if you have that option...
