8240 .. any good ?

Hi Guys and Gals,

I have recently bought a TSL601 special edition in blue which I'm loving, but I have an 8240 stereo chorus in mint condition from the 90's which I'm going to sell now.
My Q is whether the S80 valvestate 8240 is worth anything much ? It's a good reliable valve pre amp Marshall but is it held with any esteem by the knowledgable ones out there ? I know you're mostly valveheads out there but my feelings are that this might be one of the better valvestates ?
It's got stereo possibilities and sounds pretty fine.

Cheers Malc.

Re: 8240 .. any good ?

it was the first marshall i had,
never had any troubles with it and it was loud enough for stage purposes... the stereo-option gives it a nice spread

i won't tell you the differences with tube amps, as you already know that, owning a TSL...

if you wan't to sell it, maybe point it to entry level guitarists.... an experienced guitarplayer prefers valves anyway, so i donn't think they won't go back to solid state again...

Re: 8240 .. any good ?

I couldn't find an S80 8240 on the UK eBay but on the US eBay one sold recently for about $250.

I would pass on it personally after reading reviews . But like you said I am a valvesnob.

No, I mean valvehead! Sorry, I meant valvehead.

Yello,

Thanks for your views guys .... at thirty seventeen years old I guess I'm grown up enough to enjoy my TSL and to pass on my 8240 ! At the time I thought the S80 was the dogs do dahs !
