SIlver Jubilee

Hi all,

I just joined, so this is my first post. Got a question about the silver stacks. I bought a new JCM2000 DSL 100 Silver Jubilee late last year. 1960SL A & B cabs.

Is this a limited run stack? I read somewhere on the net that Silver Jubilees were originally made 25 years ago and that Marshall recently released a "limited run" of which, 400 made it to N. America.

Any additional info would be appreciated!

Thanks, Tim

Re: SIlver Jubilee

That's a very nice Marshall stack and LP you got there!

I'm guessing that the exterior is "jubilee" only, but it's still a JCM 2000 inside?

From what I understand, the Marshall Slash Signature amp (2555SL) is the last jube made.

Anyone else want to add something?

Re: SIlver Jubilee

Thanks Alex! I've got more LPs, I can post pics if you want.

Honestly, I don't even know what jubilee means; the guy at the music store called it jubilee. It is a JCM2000, you're right, so maybe it is just a silver JCM2000 with no differences? What is jubilee, anyways?

Also, how are JCM2000s viewed in the Marshall community? Are they great stacks, mediocre stacks, below average? I love mine, don't get me wrong, just wondering what the census has to say about them.

Thanks, Tim

Re: SIlver Jubilee

The guy at the music store either doesn't know what he's talking about, or he's BS'ing you. The Silver Jubilee was made in one year ONLY....1987. It's model # is 2555, and is quite unique among Marshalls. The same amp was reissued later with black tolex. Then the Slash model 2555SL came out...same amp, in black, with a Slash logo. All three versions of this amp are essentially the same, with different cosmetics.

What you have is a JCM2000 DSL 100, dressed in silver... a completely different amp. Perhaps somewhat collectible in it's own right, but it's not a Jubilee.

This is a Jubilee:

DSL 100's are not bad at all tone-wise, just treat it with kid gloves, as the JCM2000's don't have the greatest track record on reliability. That's a pretty cool stack you got there, and it makes a good pairing with the Silverburst Custom. If you got more pics, let's see 'em.

Thanks for the info! I'll stop calling it a jubilee now.

Tim, your collection rocks!

Interesting burst on that 335. Never saw one quite like that.

It's called "Antique Teaburst" but I call it T-bag.
