VM Combo vs DSL 401

Hi Everyone

I'm going to get a Marshall tube amp to go along with my new Les Paul. I've been going back and forth between the VM and the DSl 401. I'm leaning towards the VM because there doesn't seem to be any problems with it plus it is made in England. The down side is the price and I don't need 2 speakers. I like the price of the dsl 401 but it seems to have heat issues... I'm going to go try them out side by side this week. Any advice? I play manly blues/ rock and I love Slashs and Jimmy pages sound....
thanks

Re: VM Combo vs DSL 401

I may be a rare case but I own a dsl 401 and I had it over a year and never had a heat problem. But installing a fan has been recommended to me but some amp tech in nashville but my amp doesn't seem to run hot

Re: VM Combo vs DSL 401

Rallius,

I have been debating the same purchase. The new DSL401 is suppose to have the heat issue fixed. But then I have never confirmed that. The VM combos have had an issue with tube/tramsformer rattles (go to VM website Marshall Vintage Modern :: Index).

Right now I am leaning towards the VM as it seems more like my old JMP2204 I used to have many moons ago in my previous life .

No heat issues with mine, i had the heat mod, the newer
ones already have the heat mod. After that is fixed
it gets no hotter than a solid state
