Impedance ratings on THD Hot plates
Alright well I currently have a 16ohm hot plate I've been using between my amp and cabinet (which is 16ohm). Recently I have been running two 4x12 cabinets both are 16 ohms through my 16 ohm hot plate. Now I know that the impedance of the source needs to be half of the total of the speakers... So am I in danger of harming something running it like this? I guess the obvious thing to do would be buy a 8 ohm hot plate but for the sake of saving a little cash, I would like to know what my options are. Thanks.

Re: Impedance ratings on THD Hot plates
use one cab ..everything 16 ohms.......thd says on site that the only way to mis-match .is to keep cab imp greater than head and hot plate..with head and hot plate the same.....so if hot plate is 16 and head 16 you cant do two 16 ohm cabs that would make spk.lower than head and hot plate....its best to match everything...

Re: Impedance ratings on THD Hot plates
You won't be saving any cash if you damage your amp by using the wrong attenuator. The wisest thing to do, IMO, is just get the 8ohm Hotplate...
