Re: Warning

Sorry to hear about that!

If you need a crybaby w/TB or whatever else check the link in my sig for gamopatmods.

He does great work and will ship internationally if you can't find someone reliable in the UK.

It's better to just order one from him already modded because shipping yours to get modded might be cost prohibitive but contact him and see what he says.

Re: Warning

I have had some bad luck as well. It would be a lot smoother to find a tech who you could be friend and actually be on a mutual respect level with. I have had times that I have thought the places were trying to rip me off but also try to steal shit of mine! Be careful!

Re: Warning

Yeah, too bad to hear that man.

I've heard of some horror stories with amps messing up. I respect amp techs for what they do, cause I could imagine it's not an easy job, but they still gotta have credibility.

I went to an amp tech to get my 1978 JMP repaired for a blown fuse. he fixed it up well and replaced the tubes (after one tube blew as well). Plus he grounded it and replaced the cable and everything. Went well though. I'll still go him, but like the previous post said, it's hard to get a tech who you could become mutual friends with.

I guess the amp tech has to kind of keep a fair distance or something like that cause it IS business.

I wish I could find someone who could be more on the friend side.

Re: Warning

Cheers ,I will contact him for a price because all I have is a broken wah and no confidence in the tech anymore. With regard to my amp it was the preamp section nothing to do with the power valves/tubes I sent it to Marshall and all is now well ,I have sent it to Marshall before, when I first got it ,and the service is outstandinding they pick it up from a local music shop and send it back there so transport is not charged.

Great to hear that the amp issue is resolved.

Tell Gary Nate sent you when you contact him. He'll take good care of you whatever you decide to get.

Let me know how it goes.

Spot on ,I`m still not sure he didnt take the valves because they were nos or because he was clueless,we need people we can trust.

Re: Warning

Finding an above average "tube amp" tech can be a difficult task. I have to take my stuff into downtown KC as that is the location of the music store I do business with. They are a full service store with complete amp and instrument repairs. I've used them several times now. Of course they are Marshall authorized only because they have one tech (out of three) that is a tube amp wizard. These older gentlemen are getting harder and harder to find. It's not like they are teaching vacuum tube theory in college nowadays.

I'm sorry for your ordeal. It can be extremely frustrating. I'm glad that at least the amp was repaired. Good luck with your pedal.

Marty
