Just make sure the amp is at least cranked halfway and practice a lot man!

I just wanna know what "cob tone" is?

Your DSL can get that tone. Not sure why you are having a problem with it.

I'm sure you'll get it.

Sounds like basically no mids, lot of bass, bit of treble, but not too much, and presenced backed off a little.

I'm getting old, but I finally figured out that COB = Children of Bodom. In addition to the comments below, sounds like he is running a ton of gain. Maybe something hitting the front end of the amp in addition to the Ultra channel's gain. There's a lot of string noise in between sections of the lesson. He probably usually runs a noise gate.

Makes sense to me now.

I don't think he is using alot of gain. Sounds like a moderate amount to me. He is tuned lower though.

He also has his own EMG signature set of pickups. They are passive but have a three band EQ / Boost to kick things up a bit.

Doesn't Alexi use Line 6 amps most of the time? I sworn I have seen him plug into those.

I saw one of their videos where both guitar players had JCM800's, probably the RI's. Good picker but I can't respect any man who paints his fingernails...

He needs more sunlight.

Re: Plz Plz help i really need 2 get this cob tone???

He really lost his popularity in the past couple years. The new wave of Progressive Metal kinda kicked his playing to the curb. He can play no doubt about it but neoclassical, if it isn't a selected few, just doesn't do it for me anymore. Bitch'n player though none the less!
