What do you know about an '85, 1987 model, 4 input, 'faded', JCM 800 NMV?
Hey, this Marshall community thing is freakin' awesome. I love going to a site knowing there are thousands of people, all into the same thing-Marshall! Yeah!!! I've pissed about for years with other amps such as Peavey, Laney, Vox, Fender, but realised that Marshall is home for me. I have an opportunity to purchase the amp (a head) detailed above. I had a 4212 dual channel combo (brown tolex) once and was not impressed. It had the solid-state bits in it. Is the 1987 four-input a worthy head? Does it have a true tube signal path? Any info would be much appreciated.

) and to have the Randy Rhodes casade mod. It sounds awesome, to me anyway. There's a video of it on my uTube page, link in my signature below. The 1959 is the 100 Watt version of the 1987 (50 Watt). The stock model has a bright and normal channel. The bright channel does a great AC/DC tone with the volume at around 10/11 O'Clock. When cranked this channel approaches Van Halens early tones. The normal channel has more low end and gives you a thicker tone, which is great for more modern rock. Or you can jumper the channels like any 1987/1959 type circuit for even more gain and blend of the two channels. From a technicians point of view, these amps are built like brick sh*t-houses.

Thanks, PaoloJM. Your youtube page is cool-I like your sounds and thanks for the reply. The JCM i wrote about is on ebay over here in Australia. I think I'm going to go with the 1987x plexi RI I've ordered, and do a few little mods on it. I'm a kiwi living here for 5 yrs now, have met a gang of Irish-they drink hard!
Thanks mate and take it easy
