hi all, its my first thread. I was a Marshall guy 20 yrs ago and now am considering returning to the fold as the tone chase is forever on. So my question today is how much should you be expected to pay for a Marshall 2100 Lead Bass 50W combo (original to 1973-76)? In either good condition or eaten up by moths?
I appreciate all your help and direction as from what I read about and the musicians I admire; everything is pointing at this amp right now. Also, it is a USD amount I'm trying to get an idea of. |

Re: What can you expect to pay for......
That's weird - I was just looking at the head version of this amp recently. I know you were looking for the combo version, but here's the link if you want to check it out. Way out of my league.
1973 Marshall 50 watt Lead & Bass head By the way, welcome to the forum! You know that once you score your amp, we must have pictures. Last edited by RiverRatt; 07-02-2009 at 04:12 PM. Reason: greetings and salutations |

Re: What can you expect to pay for......
thanks RiverRatt, thing is I see the folks on Harmony Central pay $1000 or 200 GBP, is that pure fluke and scored large, or is the guy selling the head version for $3550 correct in his asking?
Great to hear back from someone; also if i do catch one i'll get pics. up fast. |

I don't know about the asking price on the Marshall, but I've bought a Fender Champ from them that was spot-on market value. Those heads and combos are very rare.

I was thinking it might have been basically a guitar amp, but with a big full bottom that could handle tones from a bass guitar. (I have an old Peavy guitar amp thats 130w and has alot of low end, that I use for my bass) |

Re: What can you expect to pay for......
It's two amps in one - a complete 1987 lead circuit and 1986 bass circuit. Google it and you'll find some info. Apparently, they were a mail-order only item, hence the rarity.

if it helps i got an outsider response saying 2K (USD). Also it is true that the amp was a mail order only, hence the rarity spanning only over 3 yrs. Dont forget that Paul Wellar has his own signature model where I think only 50 got made, course they are all sold. Cant buy the original, cant buy the reissue..........figure.
thanks again for all the interest and help. |
